As Saints, we rise to all challenges and a final 2020 Presidential Challenge was posed by Rev. David T. Tyson, C.S.C. to provide 250 meals to those located at the Center for the Homeless in downtown South Bend. He asked the Holy Cross College community to make a gift of $2 to provide a hot Thanksgiving meal, including turkey and all the trimmings, to one homeless person. For every dollar raised, he agreed to match it dollar to dollar with a goal of providing 250 meals.
We are proud to announce that the generosity of the College community raised $1,500, and as promised the president matched it dollar for dollar. Today a check for $3,000 was presented to the Center for the Homeless to provide 1,500 meals!
“What a great way for the Holy Cross College community to end a challenging semester – providing 1500 Thanksgiving dinners at the Center for the Homeless. Thanks for being an instrument of hope to the most-needy,” said Rev. David T. Tyson, C.S.C.
