Majors and Minors

A major is a specified concentration of courses which develop expertise in the concepts and high-level work of a discipline. Every student must select a major and most students do so as freshman in April, our major declaration month.

Many students choose to declare a minor and/or a track as well. With a minor a student can supplement their course of study with courses in a discipline that often compliments their chosen major.

Holy Cross College has 15 majors and 21 minors, each of which is housed in one of four academic Departments.

In addition to their major and any minors, a student may also choose to declare any one of our 27 tracks. A track is a bundle of courses that, paired with a relevant professional internship, students may choose to take in order to orient themselves in a particular professional direction. Some tracks are limited to specific majors while others are interdisciplinary by design. All tracks are recorded on a student’s transcript.

For more information about a specific track, please contact your Academic Advisor.
