Lent is a sacred season of reflection, prayer, and renewal—an opportunity to grow in faith and draw closer to God. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 5, the Holy Cross College community is invited to participate in worship, spiritual growth, and fellowship throughout the season.

This year’s Campus Ministry’s Lenten theme, “Jeremiah 29:11 – Hope in God’s Plan,” emphasizes trusting in God’s purpose, even in uncertain times. Through prayer, scripture, and shared traditions, the journey toward Easter becomes a time of deepening faith and embracing the universal Church’s Jubilee Year theme, “Pilgrims of Hope.”

Opportunities to engage include Ash Wednesday liturgies, Stations of the Cross, Bible study, healing services, and more.

Ash Wednesday

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 5, a day of repentance and reflection. The College will hold two liturgies in St. Joseph Chapel at 12:25 p.m. and 5 p.m. where ashes will be distributed as a symbol of humility and the call to conversion. Receiving ashes marks the start of the 40-day journey of spiritual growth, seeking God’s mercy and grace.
