Carolyn Kitz joins the Holy Cross College community as the Director of Student Activities. After a number of years in the advertising and marketing industry, she left the corporate world. Most recently, she developed a dynamic campus ministry program, along with teaching theology, at a Catholic high school in Michigan.
“I will be working closely with the teams in Residence Life and Campus Ministry to develop a cohesive, unified plan of engagement of our students that fits with the mission of the school,” said Kitz, who holds a Master of Arts in moral theology and spirituality. “The life of a disciple of Christ is one where, through the renewal of our minds, we view all of life through the lens of the Gospel. My goal, then, is to provide social and formative activities that will further develop the students as scholars, citizens, leaders, and disciples.”
Career path
“I had been missing some of the strategic and creative work I did in the ad field, but still wanted to work with young people using my theology background. I see this job as combining the things I most enjoyed from my previous jobs into one. And, I’m very excited to be at Holy Cross College not only because this job combines the best of the work I’ve done in the past, but I have had great respect for the college’s mission from afar and am thrilled to be a part of it,” noted Kitz.
Why Holy Cross College
“One of my nephews graduated from Holy Cross College and while he was here I was very impressed with not only the quality of his education, but the experiences Holy Cross gave him – the geology trip, mission trip, retreats, and the capstone project. While at his graduation, I was taken by Father Tyson’s speech and sharing of his vision of the mission of the school. I knew immediately I wanted to work here someday. Then, this past spring, the Lord opened a door to come here and I walked through it,” said Kitz.
Plans on campus
“My primary goal is to work with the Residence Life and Campus Ministry teams to create a college experience where the students can discover their gifts as well as enjoying time with, and engaging, others in a manner that helps them become the person God intends them to be. In gaining this experience, the students will be better equipped to be innovative leaders who bring the Gospel values to the world around them,” commented Kitz.
