Holy Cross College is excited to welcome Aurelia Wishart as the new Gateway Program Coordinator. The “Double Domer” graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Peace Studies and graduated this past June from Notre Dame’s Echo Graduate Service Program with a Master of Arts in Theology.
“I serve as a support for Gateway students in their first year at Holy Cross through academic advising, coordinating Gateway-specific events, and meeting with students both individually and collectively. In the spring semester I will work with the admissions team in recruiting admitted Gateway students by fielding questions and giving families tours of both Holy Cross College and Notre Dame,” notes Wishart.
She grew up in Westfield, Indiana. During her undergraduate time at Notre Dame, she worked at the LaFortune Student Center and was actively involved in Campus Ministry programs and the spiritual life at her dorm in Cavanaugh Hall.
“The past two years, I worked at a parish in the Diocese of Kalamazoo, Michigan, as part of the Echo program. At the parish, I catechized the 7 to 12-year-olds, prepared the 7th and 8th graders for Confirmation, created a ministry to welcome new families to the parish, led adult faith formation, and coordinated with Catholic Charities to distribute food to the surrounding neighborhood when food pantries were closed due to the pandemic,” said Wishart. “I’m excited to put my heart for accompaniment and hospitality at the service of Gateway students, their families, and the entire Holy Cross community.”
Why Holy Cross College
“The work of the Holy Spirit. After graduating from Echo, I was looking for a job in South Bend, but unsure of what kind of job I wanted. I was praying for the Lord’s guidance. I knew Maureen Schweninger and Emily Rauch from undergrad, and both reached out to me about the open position here. From initially reading the job description through the interview process, I felt nothing but excitement and peace. I am confident that this is where God was calling me! I am so grateful to be working in a place so mission-driven surrounded by so many hearts on fire for Christ,” said Wishart.
Plans on campus
“I hope to make the Gateway students feel at home here, and more deeply integrate them into the Holy Cross community,” notes Wishart. “I’m excited for the collaborative efforts that are already happening with Student Success, Student Life, and Admissions to make this happen!”
