Charles Ball Named Good Samaritan Volunteer of the Year

Charles "Chuck" Ball, Holy Cross College's Director of the Center for Discernment and Preparation (an internship and career counseling office for students) was named the 2010 Volunteer of the Year at the Samaritan Awards Luncheon on May 5th. "I'm truly appreciative of this honor," said Mr. Ball. "Especially because I have gained so much joy from my volunteer experiences with the Samaritan Center, and look forward to continuing this rewarding work in the future."

Chuck Ball was also a member of the Holy Cross College contingent attending the banquet as a finalist institution in the Samaritan Awards. The Samaritan Counseling Center of South Bend sponsors these awards each year as a way of highlighting the importance of finding a balance between work and family. St. Joseph County employers who allow their workplace environments, benefits, and corporate cultures to be examined by Saint Mary's College student researchers, are eligible for the award. Those who exhibit "best practices" in providing a healthy work-life environment are recognized.
