Holy Cross College announces Holland to lead Catholic college in Baton Rouge
NOTRE DAME, IN (March 3, 2014) – Holy Cross College congratulates Executive Vice President and Provost, Dr. Tina S. Holland on her appointment as President of Our Lady of the Lake College, a private Catholic institution located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
As President of Our Lady of the Lake, Holland will lead a four-year college that provides a strong foundation in health sciences, nursing, and liberal arts programs.
Holland will join Our Lady of the Lake College from Holy Cross College where she serves as the Executive Vice President and Provost, and also held the roles of Vice President for Student Affairs, Mathematics Professor, and Director of the Conditional Acceptance Program. She will assume her new position on April 22, after having served Holy Cross for more than 20 years.
Of Holland’s appointment, Brother John Paige, C.S.C., President of Holy Cross College stated, “As the Holy Cross College community, we congratulate our dear colleague and wish her all the best as she begins her new service in Catholic higher education at Our Lady of the Lake College.” He went on to say, “Our loss is their gain, but we know that Tina will always be an outstanding educator in the Holy Cross Tradition, a person who brings deep faith, talent, and experience to her new leadership position.”
Our Lady of the Lake College is a subsidiary of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and is sponsored by the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System. Sr. Kathleen Cain, Provincial of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady shared, “Dr. Tina Holland is everything we envisioned when we began this important national search. Her qualifications bring a depth of experience in higher education administration from a faith based organization that fits with our culture and will serve Our Lady of the Lake College well during an exciting time of growth.”
The search committee was headed by Judge Luke LaVergne of Baton Rouge who stated, “Dr. Holland is an eminent teacher who demonstrates a profound faith in the power of education to change lives and add value to communities. She recognizes the demand for a well-prepared healthcare workforce and the important role Our Lady of the Lake College has to train future healthcare professionals. Her experience will ensure the College continues advancements in higher education while remaining engaged with the community.”
Dr. Holland earned her PhD in Higher Education from Indiana State University and received her MA in International Relations from the University of San Diego. Before attending graduate school, she graduated from the United States Naval Academy and served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Holland and her husband, Peter, have four adult children: Rebecca, Sarah, Rachel, and Jeremiah.
